Thanks for your interest in Ruby Oak Nutrition! We offer non-diet, identity-affirming nutrition counseling for patients of all ages and identities. We also offer in-home (NC Triangle area) and virtual lactation consultations and breastfeeding support.

We require a credit card on file in order to hold your appointment time. You card will not be charged unless you miss your appointment or cancel within 24 hours without rescheduling. This card will also be used for any patient responsibility (like out-of-network payments, co-pays, and co-insurance.)

We're in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna and the NC State Employee Health Plan!
If you have an HMO plan, we may not be in your HMO network. We're NOT in-network with Duke Aetna Select, Blue Home with UNC Health Alliance, and many other HMO/limited network plans. The information below is not a guarantee of coverage — the only way to know exactly what your plan covers is to call your insurance company.
If you have a Blue Cross and Blue Shield plan:
BCBS plans typically cover unlimited nutrition counseling visits at no out-of-pocket cost.
If you have an Aetna plan:
Aetna plans typically cover 10-26 nutrition counseling visits per 12-month period, and unlimited visits if you have an eating disorder or a qualifying medical diagnosis. Some plans may require that you pay a small co-pay or co-insurance.
If you have the NC State Employee Health Plan:
The NC SHP covers unlimited nutrition counseling visits at no out-of-pocket cost.
To verify your coverage, call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask the questions listed here (there are different lists for BCBS and Aetna). Be sure to record your answers AND the reference number for the call!
If you don't have a Blue Cross and Blue Shield or Aetna insurance plan, you'll pay for sessions out of pocket. Our out-of-pocket session prices are listed here. Upon request, we can give you a monthly superbill to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
